TitleLetter from Edwardina Flinn to William IV
Date1 March 1837
WriterFlinn, Edwardina
AddresseeWilliam IV, King
DescriptionMrs Flinn writes to make the King aware of her relationship with the royal family: since her birth happened in mysterious circumstances, she thought herself to be, first, daughter of Prince Edward Duke of Kent, but then she discovered to be the daughter of Queen Caroline [Caroline Amelia Elizabeth of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel], and the Duke of Kent was her Godfather. Various misfortunes in life left her in need of money which is why is asking the King to give her a financial help that could allow her to hold a suitable rank in society.
A note in Sir Herbert Taylor's handwriting confirms to have received the command from the King to acquaint both Mr and Mrs Flinn that he will not have time to pay attention to the content of that letter.
