Title | Letter [in French] from the Princess of Wales to Mrs. Clayton [GEO/ADD/28/110], reporting Princess Amelia's increasingly poor health, the treatment she is receiving [from Dr. Stegerthal] and the Princess of Wales's suspension of treatment until Mrs Clayton has received the advice of 'our Esculapius' [presumably Dr Freind]; with transcription in French and English translation [GEO/ADD/28/005]. |
Date | n.d. [presumed to be before 1727] |
Writer | Caroline, Princess of Wales (1683-1737) |
Addressee | Clayton, Charlotte, Mrs William |
Description | Princess Amelia has 'a greater cold...complains much of heat on her lungs', and complains that the kinkina 'heats her too much'; 'the Butcher' [Mrs Clayton has added a note that this is Dr Stegerthal] has suggested she should not continue to take it. The Princess of Wales asks Mrs Clayton to get the advice of 'our Esculapius' [presumably Dr Freind] and to send information 'before six for the physicians or rather the executioners will be there then'. |
