| Notes | The original letter is GEO/ADD/28/099. The French transcription and English translation are on two halves of GEO/ADD/28/060. Both documents bear the circled number '28', which shows the order in which the original letter was bound.
There are two notes, presumably by Mrs Clayton. One notes that 'these Letters are exsactly [sic] spelt after the originalls [sic]'. The other identifies that the 'accidents which have lately happen'd' mentioned by the Princess allude to Prince George, 'who was taken from the Princess when but 5 weeks old'.
The proposed year date is presumably suggested because of the subject matter of the letter; Prince William was born in April 1721. |
