| Notes | The original letter is GEO/ADD/28/120. The French transcription and English translation are on two halves of GEO/ADD/28/064. Both documents bear the circled number '49', which shows the order in which the original letter was bound.
A separate slip on the mount of GEO/ADD/28/120 notes 'when Queen'; and Mrs Clayton [presumably] has noted 'this was writ when she was queen' [sic] on GEO/ADD/28/064. She has also added a note to explain this letter, recording that the King had spoken to Sir Robert Walpole following some advice given to him by Mr Clayton, so that the Queen's note was to warn Mr Clayton to be on his guard 'not to discover from whence the advice came'. |
