Title | Letter [in French] from Queen Caroline to Lady Sundon, reporting that the King was annoyed about an unidentified lady speaking out of turn, and that he would have preferred her [or possibly, her husband?] if she [or he?] [possibly for some post?] had not made it known to others. |
Date | n.d. [between 2 June 1735 and 20 November 1737] |
Writer | Caroline, Queen (1683-1737) |
Addressee | Sundon, Charlotte, Lady |
Notes | This letter bears the circled number '53', which shows the order in which it was originally bound. There is no accompanying transcript or translation. The author's signature appears to have been cut out, but the letter is clearly in Queen Caroline's hand. A note has been added to the document 'when Queen'; and the address label 'For Ldy Sundon' has been attached to the letter. The subject of the letter is by no means clear, and there would not appear to be any related letters elsewhere in this collection. |
