Description	Although he is not well, the King cannot help expressing his satisfaction at the way that Bexley has obeyed the King's wishes and intentions concerning the future management of the property belonging to the Duchy of Lancaster. For the convenience of his Government, the King consent to retain 'the Aristocracy of the situation of Chancellor of the Duchy' although he has determined to give full power to Sir William Knighton in improving and collecting the revenues as well as the management of the affairs of the Duchy 'into that state which ought to exist, supposing the Property to belong to a private Individual.' The patronage of ecclesiastical preferment should therefore remain in the gift of the Chancellor of the Duchy 'and all that belongs to Judicial Situations'. The official conduct and management of the business of the Duchy shall be on the recommendation of Sir William Knighton with the King's approval. He directs Bexley to confirm the King's desires but there is no need to provide a reply to this letter. Signed with initials and dated 'Rl Lge [Royal Lodge].
