| Description | The Duke thanks Budé for his letter and assures him that he has no intention of leaving his post. He has heard that the Prince of Wales has refused the rank of Major General; and he is glad that Prince Edward is not to be sent to join him next year. He goes on to explain why he is now at Tournai with a detachment of his troops, having been asked for help by the Prince of Coburg after the Dutch troops refused to cross the river Sambre, although they had agreed to take part in the siege of Maubeuge. The Prince will give him command of the Bois de Mormal with 10,000 Austrian troops. |
