TitleWill of Princess Amelia
Date28 July 1810
WriterAmelia, Princess
DescriptionAmelia first acknowledges the weak condition of her body, stressing, however, to be still of sound mind; she then goes on listing what she bequeathes and to whom.
To her brother George, Prince of Wales, she leaves a Sardonyx Snuff Box set in gold; to her brother Adolphus Frederick Duke of Cambridge, Mary [Princess Mary?]'s pictures; and to her sister Princess Mary [Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh] other pieces of jewellery. Although not mentioned individually and not given any particular items, Amelia reassures the rest of the family of her affection and her prayers for them. The rest of her private properties, and the money possessed or due to her at the time of her death, she donates to her 'most valuable friend' the Honourable General Charles FitzRoy.
Referring to some debts she contracted with her sisters, Princess Mary and Princess Sophia, if by the time of her death these are not extinguished, she prays her father, King George III, to take care of them.
Before concluding, she nominates her two brothers executors of this will.
A note of the witness, Robert Battiscombe, certifies that the present document has been signed, sealed and delivered to him by Princess Amelia.
