| Description | The Prince of Wales has decided to entrust all houses and gardens to Sir William Irby of the Parish of St James's as they become property of the Princess of Wales, Augusta, until their son George reaches the age of 21, at which point Augusta will take residence in Somerset House without paying a rent or any tax. The said house should be furnished and decorated as it is appropriate to the rank of the Queen Mother. In case of these arrangments to be refused [by the Government?], Sir William Irby will allow Augusta to live at Carlton House; in any case Augusta will inherit all books, papers and artworks. He leaves to his eldest son (and to the other sons in case the eldest dies) the George Diamond Star Garter and Buckles.
He nominates Augusta the "sole executrix" of this "last Will & Testament".
Addressing his eldest son, George, Frederick tells him to show affection for his siblings and to respect and follow the advice of: the Earl of Carlisle [Sir General Charles Howard], the Earl of Harrington [General William Stanhope, 1st Earl of Harrington], Lord Baltimore [Charles Calvert, 5th Baron Baltimore], Sir Thomas Bootle and Doctor [George] Lee.
A hardly legible inscription, in pencil, on the back of the last page, in the Prince of Wales' handwriting, refers to the submission of this draft. |
