Admin History | General Carl von Malortie was appointed Chief of Staff to Princes Ernest, Augustus and Adolphus in the summer of 1786 when they were sent to the University of Göttingen in Hanover to continue their studies. He was employed to instruct Ernest and Adolphus in military studies particularly and was considered a kind and trustworthy guardian who won the Princes' respect and affection. This collection of correspondence reflects that time as well as the continued relationship between the General and the royal family after the Princes left Göttingen. The papers include family documents of other generations of the Malortie family. |
