DescriptionThe Duke is very grateful for the very nice letter sent to him and for the kind sentiments of the people of Dunkirk: it will always be a point of pride for Engalnd to have hosted and helped the King of France [Louis XVIII]. He felt moved by the display of affection showed by the French people upon the return of their King.
He wishes prosperity to the people of Dunkirk and assures [the deputies] of holding them in the highest regard.
