TitleQueen Adelaide's Papers
Date1830-1849
DescriptionThis collection consists of two account books (dating from before and after the death of Queen Adelaide's husband William IV) and papers relating to, and extract from, Queen Adelaide's will.

Both account volumes record sums received and disbursed by Queen Adelaide. It is believed the volumes were kept by the Honourable William Ashley, Treasurer and Receiver General to Queen Adelaide and were signed by the Queen herself and by Sir John Barton, Treasurer to the Queen. It appears that both volumes were purchased in July 1934 by Owen Morshead Esq., Librarian, Windsor Castle Library, from Bernard Halliday, Old and Rare Books, Prints Autographs & Manuscripts in Leicester.

This collection also includes Queen Adelaide's bank pass books, Establishment lists and miscellaneous accounts, including some bills relating to her sister Duchess of Saxe-Weimar and a bank pass book for her son Edward of Saxe-Weimar
