[Colonel John] McMahon has indicated that by waiting on the Princess [Caroline], Moria's actions could be construed as support for the Princess's conduct as opposed to that of the Prince. Moria hopes for an audience with the Prince tomorrow to discuss the 'term of excuse which I shall make to the Princess, and which, in my humble judgement, should be offered with the most entire truth & frankness. An evasion would not correspond with the sentiment which I ought to hold towards you.' concluding with expressions of esteem towards the King [George III], the Royal Family, and especially the Prince: 'you ought to find the chords of my heart in unison with every string that vibrated in yours.'
