Erskine suggests he is against removing Lord Eliot but will investigate further; and proposes that Francis Basset should 'bring in Mr. Conwy at the general election..and leave it to his Royal Highness to make the proper return'; Erskine expresses his fear that 'his Royal Highness should connect me with what is disagreeable to him, more especially as the subject does not belong to me'.
