Collection | George IV Calendar as Prince, Regent and King |
Description | Moira describes his orders to proceed with his troops to Ostend and put himself under the command of the Duke of York or whichever General of the Allied Forces commands there, due to the current danger. He suggests that his position has been downgraded, and proposes to retire from service when the situation is more favourable, as 'these were not the terms upon which I was invited into service'. Signed. Includes (GEO/MAIN/38937) further note, written at Ostend on 26 June 1794, stating that the French are at Bruges, and will be with them by the next morning. |
