DescriptionThe Prince writes that he is not considering a separation immediately, 'that whilst things continued quiet & that the Princess did not attempt to give false impressions of me to the publick & to raise herself at my expense, I did not wish to expose her to the world...' He affirms that his treatment of the Princess has been without 'the smallest degree of harshness', and refers to Lord Malmesbury's admission that if it had been possible he would have advised the Prince against marrying Princess Caroline.
