Collection | George IV Calendar as Prince, Regent and King |
Description | Payne writes that he has been withdrawing the Prince's papers from where they had been 'indiscriminately mix'd' with other papers. He states that 'every paper that I have found, as far as my search has extended, I have put into a box, which contains all the correspondence from the King, her Majesty's leters, together with sundry letters from the Royal Family'. He refers to the letters he has 'particulariz'd' that will be sent to Carlton House. A parcel of letters from Mrs Crouch was kept by Payne 'only to repel some threats that were formerly made of publication', which no longer needs to be kept as 'she is now satisfied in her demand'. Payne affirms that no copy has been taken of the Prince's documents while in his custody. Endorsed [by Payne] 'On retiring from His Royal Highness's service, & delivering up papers'. Signed. |
