| Description | George requested that Lord Conyngham live with Adolphus's family to learn the German language, and other lessons, but that he 'be in no way exposed ' to harm [Adolphus was serving as Viceroy of Hanover]. Conyngham (who George IV wished was his own son) was a Lieutenant in the Blues [commissioned in 1821 in Royal Horse Guards], courtesy of the Duke of Wellington, but George thought after eight months he would become an attachee at Berlin under Lord Clanwilliam [envoy to Berlin 1823-1827]. [Albert Congyham became an attachee to Berlin in 1824.] |
