He threatens to print details of the affair in the 'Gazette' if the King appointed [George Coleman] to the position simply in 'private friendship' [George Coleman became Lieutenant Yeoman of the Guard on 13 May 1820]. Davis also mentions Lord Sidmouth, Lord Macclesfield, and five thousand guineas he claimed in compensation for the lost position.
