Title
Letters from the King's Physicians
Date
1788-1820
Description
Daily reports from the King's Physicians to the Prince of Wales (later the Prince Regent) on the state of the health of George III, 1788-1789, 1804, 1810-1820. From 1810 until mid-1812, the majority of these letters are written by Sir Henry Halford. Some attempt appears to have been made to date Halford's letters (in pencil) which often give only the day and time. It is not clear when or by whom these documents were dated but it is likely that the volume of summary reports (ref MED16/15) was used in this process.
These documents appear to have been previously bound into volumes; it is not clear when these documents were debound or why.

Arrangement
These papers were arranged by year during cataloguing in Spring 2018. Upto 1812, documents have been arranged by month at file level rather than being catalogued individually. From 1812, documents were grouped by quarter at file level due to the formulaic nature of the contents of the records. These documents were arranged and catalogued Spring 2018.
