| Description | William details the meeting that took place, upon the Prince of Wales' orders, to open a will [possibly Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland's as the letter is dated the day of the Duke's death], and it was brought to the Lodge by a lady [possibly Anne, Duchess of Cumberland] who came alone 'at night with orders not to be followed by anyone'. The will dated 1777 appointed the lady as sole executor and the Duke regretted it being read as it was 'left in town on purpose'. The will had been in the possession of Lady Elizabeth, but William believed it should be put into M[ajor] General Garth's hands.
The letter also includes mention of visiting Hampton Court; and [Frederick] Duke of York's visit to Windsor. |
