Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | The Duke announces that 'the game is over' with Napoleon. To mark the event, the following day the Duke, together with the Duke of Saxe Weimar [Charles Augustus, Duke of Saxe-Weimar and Saxe-Eisenach] and Bulow [Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Bülow, Graf von Dennewitz] will go to hear the 'Te Deum' [the rule has been established, the year before, that the 'Te Deum' should be sung on the Sunday after news of a victory]. He remarks that the British [Army] is well respected and he himself has been warmly welcomed - in particular by the Orange family and the Duke of Saxe-Weimar; with the latter, who is adored by all Saxons, he will proceed to the Great Head Quarters and to Prussia. |
