Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | The Duke forwards here the proceedings of the His British Majesty's ships and vessels, and of the Emperor's ships - which were under the Duke's command while attending the King of France back to His Dominions [following the abdication of Napoleon on 11 April 1814]; he also encloses a letter from the Duke to the Vice-Admiral Crown [Robert] and the order given to the Vice-Admiral and Captains Temofsky and Stefanoff. He gives details of his visiting the two Imperial ships, Tracherarch and Suatosloff, when on board of the HMS Pactolus: he was positively impressed by the discipline and readiness of the men on board and, in general, by how the Imperial ships are handled. He thus asks the Emperor to give Captains Temofsky and Stefanoff some special marks. |
