Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | Again on Schomberg's case, Prince William admits that Schomberg wrote to him to ask forgiveness and to request the Court Martial to be recalled. The Prince, however, believes that the matter has gone too far for allowing that; in addition, a Court Martial might confirm William's doubts about the responsibilities, in this affair, of Mr Hope [Sir William Johnstone Hope, Third Lieutenant]. He received a packet from [Lieutenant-Colonel George] Hotham complaing to the Prince for having withdrawn money from him - as the problem of his low allowance was still unsolved [see GEO/MAIN/44730-44731] The Maidstone frigate arrived from England. Upon conclusion Prince William reminds his brother to send him the promised sword, and he is sending a present himself. |
