The Prince tells of the last time he was at home asking the King to go abroad for three years to perfect his profession as a seaman and how the King granted his wish, also making him commander of the Pegasus with the ability to choose his own officers: Lieutenant Schomberg, Lord Hood, and Lieutenant Hargood. Lieutenant Schomberg, however, behaved inappropriately by disobeying the Captain [Prince William]'s orders, for which reason he was arrested. The Prince gives here more details about the development of this case. He praises Lieutenant Hargood, who replaced Schomberg, as very disciplined and a better officer.
As a consequence of Schomberg's behaviour, the Prince established an order book for the use of the officers and a specific, uniform method to give out orders on board.
