WriterWilliam, Prince (1765-1837)
AddresseeGeorge, Prince of Wales (1762-1830)
DescriptionPrince William gives a brief account of the developments of Schomberg's case. Once arrived in Jamaica aboard the Rattler, Prince William met with Commodore Alan Gardner to whom he delivered his narrative [of the Schomberg case] and Nelson's dispatches [on the same subject]. Gardner approved of Prince William's conduct in this situation but, before calling a Court Martial they needed to wait for the ships Europa and Amphion to return to the port with their respective Captains, Vashon and Brown. As per decision of the two Captains, Schomberg apologises to Prince William in their presence, after which Schomberg leaves the ship.
The following day he is sailing for America.
