Date10 April 1833

AddresseeTaylor, Herbert, Sir
DescriptionThanking Sir Herbert for the letters sent [in which the opinion of the King on the matter of corporal punishment is explained], which FitzRoy will forward to Lord Hill. Fitzroy sends to Sir Herbert a copy of a letter from Lord Hill discussing a proposition by Sir John Hobhouse.
Lord Grey wants to consider with the Duke of Wellington the possibility of regulating corporal punishment [i.e. putting a limit to the number of slashes].
In a final note marked as 'Private', FitzRoy wants to state that Lord Hill's objection to Hobhouse's proposition was positive. Mr [Edward] Ellice suggests discussing the matter the following week.
