The Queen thanks Lady Ely for delivering her message to the French Queen [Maria Amalia of Naples and Sicily] whom she admires and respect. She is sorry to hear Lady Ely was ill with influenza. Updating Lady Ely on the movements of the Queen's ladies-in-waiting. The King is well.
It seems clear from the context that this letter should be dated 1837 and not 1839 as erroneously previously thought
