DescriptionThe Queen announces that the bearer of this letter is General [Auguste] de la Motte [commander of three Hanoverian battalions in the Great Siege of Gibraltar] who is in poor health. With the letter she is sending also the locket she promised him at his departure.
The family is in Windsor and, with them, the Duchess of Ancaster [Mary, Duchess of Ancaster and Kesteven?] and Lady Elizabeth Waldegrave [Elizabeth Laura Waldegrave, Countess Waldegrave, Lady of the Bedchamber to Charlotte, Princess Royal]; the company of the latter is very much enjoyed by the Queen and her daughters. She, then, gives a more general account of life and events in London.
