Title
Letter from Princess Charlotte to Prince William
Date
28 March 1784
Writer
Charlotte, Princess Royal
Addressee
William, Prince (1765-1837)
Description
Princess Charlotte gives an account of the Opera she went to see with the rest of the family the night before: she explains how different it was from anything else ever performed on the English stage, for the singing and dancing were together.
She fantasizes that the Air Baloon Earrings that William gave to her could make her flying to see her two brothers [William and Frederick] in Germany. She feels happy to think that the first air balloon to cross the sea [the English Channel] was British - it landed in Flanders.
