Title
Letter from George III to Prince William, regarding William's behaviour
Date
[August 1784?]
Writer
George III, King
Addressee
William, Prince (1765-1837)
Description
The King acknowledges William's last letter in which it is explain how Major General [Jacob] de Budé helped William discharge some of his debts. The King reproaches William for putting himself in that situation and he hopes he will be wiser in future. The King would hope that Germany could improve William's behaviour as it did with Frederick, but it seems that William's manners are still closer 'to the frequenters of the forecastle'. He urges William to reflect upon his attitude and actions so that, at his return in England, he will be a perfect Prince, Gentleman and Officer.
