| Description | The Duke asks Budé to tell the King that he will report on his recent tour when he comes to court on Wednesday. He comments that the convoy from the Levant fared better than they feared, despite the loss of the 'Censeur' and 25 merchant ships, which Admiral Hotham hopes to recapture. He reports that the Prince of Orange has sent him the Hereditary Prince's letters from Berlin, where he has been well received and has hopes of succeeding in his negotiations, but the King of Prussia's letters make it clear that he is unwilling to change the arrangements he has made. The Duke promises to tell Budé about his visit to Brighton when he comes to London to see Mr Pitt and the King. |
