Arrangement | A file note by Sir Owen Morshead, Librarian, dated 7 April 1934 states: 'These documents, together with a number of trinkets and souvenirs, were contained in a cabinet; and this cabinet with all its contents, was presented to H.M. Queen Mary in 1934...Queen Mary placed the cabinet with its contents in the room at Windsor Castle occupied by the Lady-in-Waiting; these papers, which in several instances refer to the contents of the cabinet, Her Majesty directed should be deposited in the Royal Archives.' (ref GEO/ADD/15/432 a). However, a number of these documents found in this file date from after the death of Lady Charlotte (in 1813) and have therefore been arranged as follows: papers collected by Lady Charlotte Finch, letters to members of Lady Charlotte Finch's family, and papers relating to the acquisition of the papers by the Royal Family and the Royal Archives |
