The Duchess regrets that owing to the war many of her letters have not arrived; she sympathises with the Duchess of York and is glad of Princess Amelia's improved health; she hopes the new States Assembly will behave better than the last; she is cheered by the news from Italy and thinks the French will withdraw from the Rhine; she thanks the King for his help with the kangaroos.
