GEO/MAIN/6708B-16709: [to the Duke of Gloucester] George III writes that he has replied to the letters from the Princess of Wales passed to him by the Duke, and shows reluctance to enter into the conversation except to 'put a stop to it'. He suggests that Caroline create a more comfortable atmosphere and home, and suggests that the Prince is willing to 'live on terms of civility and good humour'. George III criticises the Princess' 'etiquette', and recommends that the Prince ensures that she submit to him
