Description | George III writes a summary of the reports he has received from Keith [minister in Copenhagen]. The reports are split by date sent, and George III has recorded the classification (i.e private, or most secret and confidential). 17 January - The Queen is sent as a Prisoner to Cronenburg. Count Osten reports that this is due to Christian VII's concern for her safety. Christian VII assures that she will be treated with respect; 20 January - The Dowager Queen 'deplored the cruel necessity which had brought on the present distresses of the Royal Family', and it is promised the Queen won't be detained for long; 21 January - Keith reports that it was Struensee's plan to force the King to abdicate and become Great Chancellor or Protector 25 January - Keith makes an application to see the Queen
4 February - It is reported that the court is preparing materials for a divorce 7 February - Christian VII intends to talk to George III 12 February - George III is to wait for a full communication, and receives assurance that the Queen's name won't be used in the trial; 18 February -The condition has been changed so that the Queen's name will be used but only when necessary, and the events will remain a secret; 22 February - Keith reports that the Queen was presented by Christian VII and was prevented from replying to George III's letter |
