Discussion of who will succeed Lord Holderness (George III suggests Dartmouth, Ashburnham or Bruce). Lord North agreed that neither Dartmouth or Ashburnham would agree. The King writes that Mr Smelt is leaving with Lord Holderness, and discusses the removal of the Bishop of Chester for political reasons and the King's own relationship with Lord Dartmouth.
