Encloses (GEO/MAIN/39860-39864) letter from Baron Brandes to George, Prince of Wales, on the Bishoprick of Hildesheim being allotted to the King of Prussia and the resulting danger to the Electorate of Hanover. Brandes refers to the Duke of Cambridge's discussions with the late King of Prussia and Count Haugwitz in 1797. He refers to the Briitish Ministry's neglect of the interests of Hanover at negotiations at Amiens and Paris, and states that the only hope for the 'salvation of this country' is to send a Hanoverian Agent to Paris to negotiate [for the return of Hildesheim in exchange forOsnabrück].
