TitleLetter from John Macpherson to Colonel McMahon
Date16 February 1804
WriterMacpherson, John, Sir
AddresseeMcMahon, John, Colonel
DescriptionEnclosing a copy of a document [missing] which was sent 'to a mind, who would lay it before the First Attention' and which, if McMahon approves, may be laid before the Prince 'no one can understand it better, or perhaps so well.' This document embraces 'the very Systsem' which settled the peace of Amiens and questions how peace is to be made in their day otherwise; however, this will not be understood by some. But that he will have no more to do with politics 'unless by the Highest Command'. That he has heard 'with Pain of Heart, all the Details of [George III's] late Illness. For God's sake for Our Country's sake let him be more careful in future'. That he often hears of the noble conduct of Lord Moira and that he keenly feels the loss of [John Willet] Payne
