Description
Heywood reports that the Duke's asthma had not returned since Leghorn and that he took daily [horse] rides. He also mentions: the arrival of the Grand Duke [?of Tuscany]; the Duke of Gloucester's letter writing; [John] Hunter's arrival; [John] Charlton; Bainsford's leg; and a request to Captain Hervey to provide a pension for [Thomas] Meeke [Meik], Surgeon of [HMS] Venus, who Heywood claimed the Duke owed his life to as he had insisted upon the use of bark contrary to the Italian [physician's] advice.
