William states his desire to see the King, assuring him that he had intended to keep the marriage a secret until his death or until the union had issue, but due to the declaration [of the Royal Marriages Act] it was necessary to disclose it. He writes that he has two choices either to abandon his wife, which he believed George III would not approve of, or to disclose it and submit to the King's will. William also mentions the King's audience with [Edward] Le Grand.
