Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | Dundas wants to assure the Duke and the Prince of Wales of his support of Lauderdale. The same support is given by the Duke of Leeds - who, however, was not able to qualify properly his List. Lord Blantyre is at Ipswich with Lord Paget whose attachment to Pitt [William] could influence Lord Blantyre's vote [in the by-election for the Scottish representative] in a way opposite the Duke's wish - against Lauderdale [James Maitland, 8th Earl of Lauderdale]. The Prince of Wales might, however, intervene in that. Lord Saltoun [Lieutenant-General Alexander George Fraser, 16th Lord Saltoun] is with Dundas in the 42nd regiment and can be convinced to vote for Lauderdale. |
