Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | The day before the Duke attended the singing of the 'Te Deum' in the Great Cathedral; the Duke of Saxe-Weimar [Charles Augustus, Duke of Saxe-Weimar and Saxe-Eisenach], General Bulow [Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Bülow, Graf von Dennewitz], the Prussian Generals with different Etat Majors and various guards of honour, all joined in the Cathedral - where there were six Princes in total. The Duke of Clarence, the Duke of Sax-Weimar and General Bulow were the only three non-Catholic people attending, but they were admired for their respect of the Catholic Religion. He confirms that all nations speak highly of the Prince Regent. The day before the Duke received two messages: one from the Duke of Cambridge [Prince Adolphus] urging the Duke to proceed to Hanover; and one from the Queen of Württemberg [Charlotte, Princess Royal] to visit her in Stuttgart; unless differently instructed by the Prince Regent, however, the Duke will proceed to the Great Headquarter with the Duke of Saxe-Weimar. |
