DescriptionThe Duke forwards here the proceedings of the His British Majesty's ships and vessels, and of the Emperor's ships - which were under the Duke's command while attending the King of France back to His Dominions [following the abdication of Napoleon on 11 April 1814]; he also encloses a letter from the Duke to the Vice-Admiral Crown [Robert] and the order given to the Vice-Admiral and Captains Temofsky and Stefanoff.
He gives details of his visiting the two Imperial ships, Tracherarch and Suatosloff, when on board of the HMS Pactolus: he was positively impressed by the discipline and readiness of the men on board and, in general, by how the Imperial ships are handled.
