| Description | Melville acknowledges the uneasiness of the Duke of Clarence at the order given by the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty, conformably to the intention of the Prince Regent, that once the Emperor of Russia and the King of Prussia have landed, the Duke should come ashore - in order to accompany their Majesties on land. Melville assures the Duke, though, that in the case of any other movement of the two Majesties (eg. to visit Portsmouth or when returning to the Continent) the Duke's flag would be hoisted again.
Adding that orders for the Majesties to be brought to Cherbourg are sent out on that very day to Sir Richard Bickerton.
