Description | The Duke had to delay his departure from Spithead, but eventually arrived at Dover the morning before; there he boarded the HMS Nymphen with the King of Prussia, and they sailed towards Calais. The King of Prussia invited the Duke to visit Berlin with his daughter. Once in Calais the Duke was sent by the Grand Duchess [Anna Pavlovna of Russia?] who had embarked on board the HMS Jason for Calais; once the ship comes back, the Duke will hoist his flag on her and will navigate the Thames up to London. The Emperor [of Russia, Alexander I] boarded the Royal Yacht and went back to the Continent via Ostend, rather than Calais, as this was his wish. In a post scriptum note the Duke confirms having received orders to hoist his flag on the HMS Jason and start his navigation; he will be in London by the day after. |
