TitleLetter from the Duke of Clarence to Sir Henry Halford [?]
Date16 June 1830
WriterClarence and St Andrews, William, Duke of
AddresseeHalford, Henry, Sir [?]
DescriptionAcknowledging the receipt of Knighton's papers, the Duke expresses his deepest thanks for his affectionate and reliable service. The Duke is pleased with a few things: the King spending a good night's sleep; the Duke of Wellington [Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington] and Lord Farnborough [Charles Long, 1st Baron Farnborough] managing to 'affix the Royal Signature to all the papers in the Castle'; the Duke of Cumberland [Ernest Augustus] not visiting. The Duke believed that the way in which Halford has behaved throughout these events truly shows how fitted he is for being the head of the College of Physicians.
