Collection | Correspondence of William IV |
Description | Prince William proceeds to describe a series of adventures which have occurred since the departure of the Commodore [Hon. John Leveson-Gower]: the sailing, between Torbay, Dungeness and, then, St Hellens, has been disturbed by strong wind which forced HMS Hebe to stop in St Hellens. During his stay in Spithead, Prince William visited Lord Hood [Samuel Hood, 1st Viscount Hood] and dined with the Lieutenant of the Guardship. The other only interesting thing to report is that, during the last cruise, they found a smuggler - these are, however, petering out. |
