DescriptionThanking Knighton for his letter containing a statement on the ill-health of 'our greatly & much respected & lov'd Friend' [?Richard] Wellesley and commending Wellesley's loyalty to his friends, his king, and his country. His sense of duty is such that the king belives 'there is not any probability of his being much longer detain'd from his rendering himself at his Post.' Referring to and quoting from a previous letter by Knighton, the king urges a meeting between them which Knighton has so far resisted.
Marked 'Most private'.
Signed with initials.
With postscript that the king encloses a letter for Knighton which 'by some quite incomprehensible means' was sent to the king under Knighton's address.
