Date21 June 1837
WriterHawker, Samuel, General Sir
AddresseeHawker, Lucy Hester Ford
DescriptionGeneral Samuel communicates to his wife the death of William IV - he was with him and his family and gives a description of his last moments of life.
He is still at the Castle because the Queen has requested that he makes a drawing of the room the King was in the day before when Lord M. [Munster?] presented to him the Waterloo Banner [in celebration of the anniversary of that battle]. He confirms that the will is still to be opened and that no one knows anything about it.
He will soon leave the Castle, then go to London and will eventually be on the way back home. .
